Easyrad Scudo 500: the best affordable 500 MHz Ground Penetrating Radar system
Until recently, the GPR ground radar systems were so expensive that they were only obtainable for professional institutions such as engineering agencies, bomb disposal or archaeological institutions. Now exists Easyrad Scudo 500: a ground radar that is obtainable for everyone.
The frequency of 500MHz makes the system suitable for detecting pipes or even PVC pipes but also archaeological material, graves, buried riches, basements.
A GPR ground radar is not a metal detector!
Ground radar technique is a different kind of measurement method than a metal detector. The great advantage of a GPR ground radar is that it reacts to changes in the ground itself and not the object. This makes it possible to find other materials, such as plastic, ceramic, wood or sinkholes.
The ground radar is also the ideal measurement method for civil engineering. It is possible to detect sewers, pipes or tubing.
This ground radars have a ‘shield’: the shield fits like a cap to the radar box. The shield ensures that no influence form outside may affect the measurement results. This makes the radar employable in virtually any environment.
The maximum depth of the radar is 7 up to 10 meters, depending on the type of soil. The radar is not employable on clay soils and soil effected by salt water. Wet soil may likewise reduce the effectively of the radar. The radar measures the best results when used on sandy soil or any type of soil made of rock.
The Easyrad functions on the included android tablet
With the tablet you can enter specifications such as:
- The depth you would like to search/measure;
- The kind of soil;
- The display of the radar gram, available in colour and black and white
During scanning it is possible to read in real-time:
- The depth that is scanned;
- Changes in the soil structure (Previous construction is clearly identifiable);
- At what depth these changes begin and end.
You can save the measurement results/radar gram during scanning and in order to analyze it later.
It is possible to receive training in operation the radar when desired.
The warrant period is 2 years.
FAQ’S about ground penetrating radar:
The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) works by sending and receiving electromagnetic radio waves, using a pair of antennas. The GPR emits a wide spectrum of radiowaves (0-2000MHz), the ground and the objects in it partly reflect and/or absorb the radiowaves, and the receiving antenna gets these reflections. According to the degree absorption and reflection of the emitted radiowaves, the GPR software constructs a radargram and displays it on the screen of a laptop PC or Android tablet. Thus, measuring the degree of reflection/absorption of the radiowaves, the GPR detects underground soil layers, voids and human made objects (like tunnels and ruins of buildings). The advantage of EASYRAD GPR is it presents a real-time, continuous and fast method to measure and collect and store information about underground content and thus that makes it a great tool for treasure hunters, archeologists and construction companies.
How deep does EASYRAD see depends entirely on soil condition – how wet is it, what kind of soil components it contains, but the depth usually is 3 – 5 meters: Here are some pointers on how deep does EASYRAD see into different soils (NOTE: the following values could vary significantly, since the underground content is almost never certainly known)
Dry sand and gravel: 5 – 10m
Silty dry gravel and sand: 2 – 5m
Silty wet gravel ans sand: 2 – 3m
Dry and compact soil: 2m
Wet and compact soil: rarely over 1m
Massive rock: 5 to over 10m
Dolomite and marble: often over 20m
Water: 4 to 6 m
WARNING: Moisture and clay in the ground significantly decrease penetration depth!
EASYRAD GPR is suitable for finding both natural and human-made underground anomalies:
-underground natural voids
-tunnel entrances and tunnel systems
-ruins and building remains
WARNING: Although EASYRAD GPR is capable to detect relatively big metal objects (since they understandably must have been human-made), it IS NOT a metal detector!
he EASYRAD GPR batteries last up to 4-6 hours before they need to be recharged. There is LED indicator about battery condition (charge). Use ONLY the provided battery charger in order to charge the batteries, otherwise you may damage the GPR.
